Have you ever wanted to learn magic? Are you a magician wanting to advance your craft?
THE JOPLIN MAGIC CLUB INVITES YOU TO MASTERCLASS!
Mark your calendar now! Make plans to join us! (9/11, 10/9, 11/13)
Doug began as a demonstrator at the Boogie Woogie Magic Shop at Six Flags Over Texas. He’s headlined on the most beautiful cruise ships in the ocean. Having performed in over 20 countries he’s enjoyed by audiences young and old. Doug has honed his craft and his mastery of magic includes cups & balls, Benson bowl, and the chop cup.
Renowned magician John Mulholland, said "Houdini once told me that he considered no man to be a magician until he was able skillfully to perform the Cups and Balls.” Learning these effects will help you be a better magician.
Doug’s teaching style is personal, informative, and easy to follow. This MasterClass will equip you to add these classics to your show, and help you grow in both overall magical knowledge and skill. Even if you never perform these effects (but you’ll want to after this class), the knowledge gained will improve all of your magical performances.
The MasterClass is being hosted by the Joplin Magic Club. All classes will be held at the Joplin Family YMCA at 6:30 pm on the second Thursday of the month in September, October, and November.
Each class is $20, or $50 for all three classes. The cost includes the lecture, notes and extensive information about these effects, and a special magical gift for each participant. If you do not have the necessary props, let us know and we can have them for you to borrow.
Space is limited - please RSVP to Rob at freshbrewedtrickery@gmail.com to reserve your spot or get more information on the MasterClass or the Joplin Magic Club.
Considered by most magicians to be the oldest trick in the world, the cups and balls go back to the Roman era. Three cups. Three balls. It's a classic magic trick for a good reason.
The Benson Bowl is a modern variation of the classic Cups and Balls trick using a single bowl and a number of soft sponge balls. The effect typically involves balls vanishing, appearing, or multiplying under the bowl or in the magician’s hands
The Chop cup was first mentioned in 1723 using balls made of sheep fat. In modern times, it became well known when performed on The Ed Sullivan Show. Today, this very entertaining trick comes in many shapes and sizes.
